About Aster Sanad
Currently, Aster DM Healthcare is one of the largest and fastest growing conglomerates in the MENA region. It covers the full spectrum of healthcare services and boasts an expansive portfolio that includes hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centre and retail pharmacies.
Aster Sanad Hospital started its operation in 2008 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with about forty physicians covering outpatient and inpatient divisions. The inpatient department consisted of 145 beds in wards, 41 beds in the Intensive Care Unit and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The outpatient department consisted of 45 clinics of different specialties and 7 specialized clinics.

We have been consistent in our mission to provide quality healthcare at affordable cost at the door steps of people we serve, ever since we started the journey of “Caring Mission with a Global Vision” 3 decades back. Alisha Moopen is the Managing Director & Group CEO Aster DM Healthcare GCC. Having joined the company as a Director in 2013, she is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and development of the company, and notably spearheading the expansion of the group into new markets.
Alisha is building a sustainable future for the organization and the 37-year-old legacy built by her father, Padmashree Dr. Azad Moopen, whose vision to make quality healthcare accessible helped Aster reach tens of millions of patients over the years.
Alisha was elected by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader to join the class of 2018 and she was the first female Chapter Chair of YPO’s Dubai Chapter, a global leadership organization that brings together over 27,000 chief executives from over 130 countries. She is the Founder and Vice-Chairwoman of Dubai Healthcare Business Group. In 2023, Alisha was appointed to the Board of Directors for Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park, under the leadership of HH Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, as per a decree issued by HH Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
Over the years, her efforts have been recognised regionally and globally with several accolades: Fortune India and Business Today have named Alisha as one of the Most Powerful Women in business in 2022-23. She was recognised by The Economic Times as one of India Inc’s Top Young Leaders in 2021 and also among the Most Promising Women Leaders in India in 2022. In 2023 and 2024, Arabian Business named her as one of the top 10 Healthcare Visionaries for Middle East, and Gulf Business awarded her as the Healthcare Leader of the Year. She was also listed in 50 Inspiring Women Leaders 2023 by Arabian Business. In 2022, Alisha was recognized as the Healthcare CEO of the Year by CEO Middle East and awarded with UAE’s Young Leader of the Year recognition by India Global Forum. She was recognized as one of the Most Influential Women in the Arab World by CEO Middle East Magazine.
Mohamed AlshamariChief Executive Officer, Aster Hospitals & Clinics, KSA
Mohamed Alshamari serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Aster Hospitals & Clinics in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In this role, he oversees all aspects of planning, strategy, development, and expansion, including growth through acquisitions, service excellence, stakeholder engagement, and strategic partnerships. He is also focused on attracting, retaining, and developing top talent, with a strong emphasis on leadership development and succession planning.
Mohamed reports directly to Alisha Moopen, Managing Director & Group CEO – Aster DM Healthcare, and works closely with functional leaders to drive the successful execution of key initiatives and organizational objectives.
With nearly two decades of experience in healthcare and insurance, Mohamed brings a wealth of expertise in healthcare strategy, consulting, investment, and operations management. He has held senior leadership roles at prominent organizations such as ARAMCO, SABIC, Royal Commission Hospital, MEDGULF, and Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib, where he played a vital role in achieving business growth and operational efficiency. Prior to joining Aster, he served as the Sports Medicine Advisor at the Saudi Ministry of Sports.
Mohamed holds a Certificate in Senior Executive Leadership from Harvard Business School, a Master of Science in Health Management from City University, London, a Postgraduate Certificate in Health Services Management, and a Bachelor's degree in Health Science from Flinders University, South Australia.
Prof. Turki AlbackerCEO, Aster Sanad Hospital, KSA
Prof. Turki Albacker is the Chief Executive Officer of Aster Sanad Hospital in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he leads the hospital’s strategic vision, clinical development, and operational excellence. Reporting directly to the CEO of Aster Hospitals & Clinics, KSA, he plays a central role in driving performance, innovation, and patient-centered care.
With a strong background in cardiac surgery, healthcare leadership, and academic administration, Prof. Turki has held prominent positions including Chairman of the Cardiac Sciences Department at King Fahad Cardiac Center, Dean of Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz College for Emergency Medical Services, and Vice President of the Saudi Society of Cardiac Surgeons.
In addition to his clinical and academic roles, he brings nearly a decade of experience in revenue cycle management and health insurance, offering a well-rounded perspective on healthcare operations and financial sustainability.
Prof. Turki holds an MBBS from King Saud University, an MSc in Experimental Surgery from McGill University, and an MBA in Health Management from the University of Colorado. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC), the American College of Surgeons (FACS), and the American College of Cardiology (FACC).
His multidisciplinary expertise and visionary leadership play a key role in advancing Aster Sanad Hospital’s mission to deliver high-quality, patient-centric care across the Kingdom.
